Do you know where and when the first Padel court was built? It was in Acapulco (Mexico) in the late 1960s at the home of a man named Enrique Corcuera. Later, it arrived in Spain through Alfonso Hohenlohe, the owner of the “Hotel Marbella Club” in the early 1970s. In 1972 or 1973, by chance, Javier Arenzana started playing Padel. Since then, he hasn’t stopped, and he has been connected to this sport in one way or another for over 50 years.
Subsequently, he traveled to Mexico in 1981 and had the opportunity to play on that very first court in 1982.
Back in Spain, in 1986, along with Juan Fontán, they won the Spanish championship five times, winning more than 200 tournaments.
They personally participated in the evolution of paddles. Initially, the paddles were made of wood with aluminum profiles. They weighed between 380 and 470 grams. The design, molds, and evolution of materials have been spectacular. Fiberglass, various types of carbon fiber, or different-density EVA foam were used.
This change in materials inevitably led to an evolution in the style of play. They gradually adapted, and the sport became more professionalized, with game systems, coaches, physical preparation, and more.
In this era of impressive evolution, new generations entered the scene, resulting in the exciting state of the sport today!
In the 1980s, they created the first Spanish Padel brand: “PADEL LOBB.” This brand became a reference point, and the best Spanish players of that era played with it. They were always attentive to the evolution of the sport and the materials that were emerging in the market.
They started when wooden paddles and aluminum profiles were still in use. Then, EVA foam appeared, and within a year, they had an entire collection made with this new material that revolutionized the market. From there, everything changed: different types of carbon, paddle formats (molds), weights that ranged from 450 to 350 grams currently, balance, hardness, and more.
All this experience and knowledge gained over such a long time, combined with other professionals who directly participated in that evolution, both in sports and business, kept them constantly searching for the “best racket.”
For this reason, and after years of research, understanding the current market and the demands of different types of players, they decided to launch their own brand in 2018.
A brand in constant evolution, always attentive to the needs of the moment, but with the experience of many years of professional play.
